Asteron Health Sense Plus

With the Asteron Health Sense Plus program, we reward you for taking care of you.

You’ll enjoy a 5% saving on your Life, TPD and Trauma/Recovery insurance premiums1 for the next two years when you get a health check in the months leading up to your policy anniversary. If eligible for the reward, you’ll receive an invitation with instructions on how to apply before your policy renews.

Health checks, such as a blood pressure test or skin check, are quick and easy and can be done by your GP the next time you visit. They’re a simple way to catch any health issues early on, so they don’t become more serious problems down the line.

How does Health Sense Plus work?

With Health Sense Plus, you can keep a check on your health and save in the process.

Check if you’re eligible for the 5% reward:

  • do you have a current Asteron Life Complete policy, Asteron Lifeguard Life, TPD or Trauma policy, or a Recovery Package/Stand Alone policy, which commenced on or after 1 January 2008?
  • have you not made a claim under any policies you hold with us?
  • are you less than 62 years old when applying?
  • have you provided a valid email address so we can send you the offer?

If you answered yes to all of the above questions, you should receive an invitation email from us to apply for the reward a few months before your policy anniversary.

How to apply

Have a health check any time in the few months leading up to your policy anniversary. Your GP can guide you on which test is most appropriate for you.

If you’re eligible, we’ll send you an email in the months before your policy anniversary with a link where you can enter your health check details and submit your application. Be sure to submit your details by the due date stated in the offer email.

Don’t worry – we don’t need your test results and being part of the Asteron Health Sense Plus program won’t have any effect on your existing cover or future claims.

What’s the benefit of having a health check?

None of us want to think it could happen to us, but did you know that 2 in 5 Australians will face a cancer diagnosis by the age of 852?

Regular health checks play a crucial role in preventing illnesses, detecting diseases early, and supporting overall health. For example, detecting cancer early on can greatly improve the likelihood of a successful recovery.

Likewise, keeping an eye on your blood pressure and cholesterol levels is key to managing the risks of heart disease and stroke. Your GP can guide you on how which health checks are most suited for you.

When should I get the health check?

Any time within 6 months before you receive the Health Sense Plus offer. If eligible for the reward, you’ll receive an invitation with instructions on how to apply before your policy renews. Be sure to submit your details by the due date stated in the offer email. Note that the offer will close one month before your policy anniversary date.

What if I miss the due date stated in my offer email?

The Asteron Health Sense Plus discount is only available if you enter the required information through the provided link before the deadline. The link in the email will expire after the due date, so make sure you submit the necessary information to Asteron by then.

Support for your physical health

Personalised Cancer Care Programs
Cancer can have a big impact on your body and the signs and symptoms can manifest in many different ways. This means your support needs may be complex. In partnership with virtual health providers, we offer personalised cancer care programs delivered by a certified team of allied health professionals. These are designed to offer you tailored support, guidance, education and mental health coaching if you’re going through cancer treatment.

Physical Recovery Support
Recovering from an injury or illness can put a lot of strain on your body. A work conditioning program, guided by a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, can help you physically prepare for the demands of your work and daily life. We collaborate with a range of specialists to create a personalised program tailored to support your journey back to physical health.

Fatigue Coaching Program
Experiencing fatigue after illness or injury is not uncommon. While symptoms can differ from person to person, there are several strategies that can help reduce their impact and enhance your overall health and well-being. Through our health partners, you can get coaching from an Exercise Physiologist to gain a better understanding of the signs and effects of fatigue. They can develop a personalised program to help you manage and boost your energy levels by gradually incorporating activity and exercise into your daily routine. Depending on your needs, they may also offer advice on sleep hygiene and basic nutrition.

Health Recovery Tools
We offer a range of evidence-based health coaching programs, which are designed to tackle areas that may be a barrier to your optimal recovery. These programs focus on self-management, providing guidance on living with a health condition and how to keep moving forward after an injury or illness.

Managing Chronic Pain
Chronic and persistent pain can be both physically and emotionally draining and can have a big impact on your overall health and well-being. Through our partner providers, we offer access to a personalised program designed by an experienced therapist who will look at your specific symptoms and lifestyle. This program can equip you with tools and strategies to help you effectively manage pain throughout your recovery.

Support for your mental health

Mental Health Workouts
The positive impact of exercise on mental health is well-documented. It has been shown to help manage and improve depression, mood, alertness, concentration and sleep patterns. Through our partners, we offer access to exercise programs designed by physiotherapists or exercise physiologists to complement any traditional mental health treatments you may be receiving.

Support During Grief
Coping with grief can be incredibly challenging and, at times, overwhelming. To assist you during these tough moments, we've teamed up with Assure Programs to provide a dedicated grief support service. This service is available to immediate family members of a loved one who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness or has passed away, as well as to customers facing a terminal diagnosis themselves.

Mental Wellness Coaching
We offer a range of programs designed to help you manage depression or anxiety through mental health coaching, as a complement to the care you receive from your GP, psychologist or psychiatrist. Delivered by trained mental health coaches over the phone, these programs use evidence-based techniques to support and enhance your mental health and well-being.

Trauma Support Services
Specifically designed for people who have experienced a traumatic event, this program aims to educate you about trauma and post-trauma reactions, empower you to improve your functioning and, ultimately, help you stay in or return to productive work.

When you're ready to return to work, a career coach can assist you in transitioning back to your previous role, finding a new opportunity, or figuring out the amount and type of work that's right for you now. Focused entirely on your unique needs, a career coach will work closely with you to navigate your future career path and determine what suits you best.

Help with Returning to Work
When appropriate, we can actively support your return to work. Our partnered providers will collaborate with you, your employer and your medical team to create a personalised plan that will help you safely transition back into the workforce.

Personalised Work Conditioning
Returning to work after an injury or illness can be physically demanding. With the guidance of a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, a work conditioning program is designed to prepare your body for the physical tasks required on the job. We partner with specialists who can create a personalised program focusing on work simulation activities to help you successfully transition back to work.

On-site Workplace Assessment
When getting ready to return to work, an on-site workplace assessment conducted by an Occupational Rehabilitation Provider can be invaluable. This assessment helps to thoroughly understand your work environment, job tasks, and both functional and cognitive requirements. It will also outline any restrictions or necessary adjustments that your employer should implement to ensure a safe and smooth return to work.

TAL reserves the right to alter or discontinue the Health Sense Plus offer at any time.

The costs of preventative screening consultations and tests are not reimbursed by TAL, and the results are not required to be disclosed to TAL for the purposes of confirming eligibility for the Health Sense Plus discount.

By participating in Health Sense Plus and verifying eligibility for the program, TAL collects data and information which includes participants’ personal information and may include sensitive personal information (Data). By participating in Health Sense Plus, participants consent to TAL’s collection and use of the Data in accordance with the TAL Privacy Policy.

Any Data shared with TAL for the purposes of the Health Sense Plus program is used only for assessing eligibility for the discount and is regularly deleted once eligibility has been confirmed.
